Creating Dolls

Started a couple of different doll sets.

One Gingerbread doll set. Will be a mamma and baby gingerbread set. Many of you know I love the Gingerbread theme.

The other if it turns out will be a Reindeer Mamma and Baby doll set. I have never made a Reindeer set before. I have made a reindeer for a doll set but not a Mamma and Baby reindeer set.

Please stay posted I hope to have these ready before we go on our cruise.

We are going cruising just after Thanks Giving. Doing a Mexican Riviera Cruise. We are meeting up with our children for this cruise. I can't wait to see them. I miss them a lot.

Been thinking seriously about doing a Rug hooked Pillow Santa. Have a wonderful photo of a woodland Santa whose cloak is blowing in the wind. Called Wind blown Santa. I dyed wool yesterday for his Cloak. Will have to do a smaller cut to work this Santa. But I think I will do this.

Wish me luck on all of these creations.

BHR Challenge

Been working on my BHR (BIG HUGE RUG). Kelley challenged us to hook a huge rug during the 2008 year. I brought mine along on the road with me. Many of you know we are full time RVers so this can be a challenge in itself. I have been hooking away on this for a few days. Still have what seems like a long way to go. But the main section only has the sky to do. Then will be Hooking on some large border areas. These rugs can not be seen yet. That was a part of the rules. No posting of rug photos outside of the group until the challenge is over. So maybe around January first they will be able to be viewed. Some of the ladies finished their rugs a long time ago. I am not a long term project person. But have found this to be fun. I think it is due to every area is like a new project. Painting with wool on a pictorial rug has been very fun. I have learned a lot. This rug is about 4' by 3' so it really is a big huge rug.

Been drawing out idea's for a couple of new dolls. Hope to work on at least one of them this week. So look for a new doll to hit the market hopefully next weekend.

White Sands National Monument

Rising from the heart of the Tularosa Basin is one of the world's great natural wonders - the glistening white sands of New Mexico. Here, great wave-like dunes of gypsum sand have engulfed 275 square miles of desert and created the world's largest gypsum dune field.

Our Photos from 10-15-08

This is in New Mexico not far from Las Cruces or Alamogordo

These Plants trap the sand around them so when the winds blow the sand away it is trapped around their roots. Thus they can survive.

I think David wanted to ski down this slop. People do use the snow saucers to sled down these slops. So of the slopes are quit high. You should have seen him trying to get back up the slope.

This is very small maybe about 5" or so. Not sure if an animal made this or there is a plant under there some where.

Many bushes and plants do live in this harsh environment. There is an Oak tree that lives here that if its leaves are on the surface it will will survive even if the sands engulf it's trunk. Very interesting area.

There were several butterfly's on this bush.

Believe it or not they have to plow the road many mornings to open it up for traffic. The wind blows the sand all over the roads.

It is very hard to capture the white sands. We were there between 2:00 and 4:00 P.M. not the best time for taking photos. Early mornings or evenings would be a good time.

The gypsum that makes up the white sands starts out as clear, translucent sand grains. As the wind bounces the sand grains along the ground, they collide and scratch each other. The scratches change the way light reflects off the grains, making the sand appear white.

Who can resist drawing in the sand? As you can see I was having a great time.

Las Cruces New Mexico

You must visit Coas. We do every time we are in town.

If you are a used book store fan this is a must store. I can not even begin to tell you how many rooms there are in this store. I have never seen this many used books in one place. Almost like a very large library. It is very well organized so you can find what you are looking for. This is the store that is down town. There are two in the area.

We made it to White Sands National Park and the gates were closed do to activity at the White Sands Missile Range. But the gates open up about an hour later. This me waiting for those gates to open. Enjoying the warm afternoon sun. It was about 70 degrees and sunny.

I will put all the White Sands Photos in the next post.

We had a great day!!!

Off to dinner at La Posta one of our Favorite Mexican food restaurant. What yummy food.

Snowman Candy Container

I have started my Christmas Creations.

I really like how my fabric Snowman Candy Container is turning out. I hope to make a Rug Hooked version of this to.

I am creating a pattern for this as well. Hoping to have both the fabric and rug hooked version in the pattern.

So come on back for more information. As soon as I can I will get a picture.

Will start hooking on the Rug hooked version tomorrow. Want to dye up some wools to use for this one.

Also look for the Black Cat Ornies that you voted on to be made into a pattern. This will be out very soon. See a previous post for information on this. It is the top photo in that post.

Stay posted.

We Visited our daughter last Weekend

David and JoEllen

JoEllen & Angela

These Aspens were a stunning red. I have never seen the Aspens trees this red.

As you can see it has started to snow in the high mountains of Colorado.

This is the view my daughter has right out her door.

She is living in Mountain Village. The ski slopes are right out her door. The mountains are all around them. I can not even describe in words how beautiful it is there.

Angela and David can out walk we any day. I have to take those up hill climbs a little slower then them.

We love to hike and one of our favorite things is waterfalls.

Good Morning it is Fall

I have been wanting to get some time to share some photos.

Sunrises and sunsets in our little valley can be truly gorgeous.

This is the road we go down to get to our property.

This is the next step in the journey as you head down the road.

Down just a little farther and you will get to the entrance to our property. Hubby is flag happy.

The little fawns have lost their spots and the deer's fur are turning into the fall color of gray. Most of the little ones are a little over half the size of their moms. It has been a blast watching these little ones grow. To cute. At times they just run around chasing each other until they are exhausted. And these fawns can run very fast.

Our building project is nearly finished. We have learned so much this summer as we built this garage. We love the look of the knotty pine siding and are glad we went with a burgundy metal roof. We had a lot of fun but we are glad it is almost finished.
